SR Architects Ltd. was commissioned initially in 2013 to procure listed building and full planning permission for the refurbishment and re-ordering of private dental practice as part of a larger development for the overall site facing on the Esher High Street in Surrey. This was obtained at the time, but the decision was made to advance the other part of the development first.

Once that phase of the project was completed and another interim project completed, the clients contacted SR Architects again to revive their intended surgery redevelopment.  During the intervening time the clients decided to take some different approaches to their brief and another listed buildings planning application was required to be sought.  This was passed and the project moved to construction.

The existing listed building had housed rented office space as well as the dental surgery, but the brief asked to increase the surgery and reduce the office space.  The design challenges lay in trying to work additional surgery suites into the existing fabric at the upper floors with the inherent drainage considerations whilst also expanding reception and improved client waiting areas and finding space for improved staff areas.
